Dealing with Developmental Stages in Children
As children grows, they tend to develop new and exciting abilities, they like to stay busy and creative. An important part of growing is learning to socialize and interact with others. They tend to move from playing alone to having multiple friends and social groups. At this stage friendship becomes important but they are still fond of their parents and like being part of a family.
These development in children is exciting to witness but can also come with its own set of challenges for parents and teachers, because this is a critical period for children to gain confidence in parents, teachers, school, sports and at life in general. Sometimes they get distracted by happenings around them, they want their voices to be heard, they become opinionated and this is the period they are conscious of what friends and their peers have to say about them.
It is important for parents and teachers to guide them during this period. Understanding the phase at which they are in the developmental stage is important in helping them transit successfully. At this stage they would want to take decision independently and at the same time want to be with their parents. This is a very sensitive balance. It is important to let them make their choices as you provide the necessary guidance when needed. This has to be done in a way that does not affect their self esteem and independence.
